experience License: Active Michigan Nursing License Certifications:
Active American Heart Association BLS Must-Have: Level 2 Trauma
Experience, Proficient in Ortho, Vascular, Neuro, Gen/Gyn, and
Urology Description: This position is responsible for assessing the
needs of each patient before and during a surgical procedure.
Maintains patient safety throughout the surgical process. The RN
outlines individual care plans tailored to each patient.
Implements, evaluates, and documents care of patients during
surgical procedures. Provides leadership to the operating room
team. Communicates effectively with patients and their families.
Coordinates with the OR team, supervisors, managers, and ancillary
departments. Participates in staff development through
preceptorship and continuing education. Assesses the needs of the
surgical patient and develops a detailed plan of care. Implements
and evaluates the plan during the procedure. Makes necessary
adjustments to maintain patient safety as a priority. Supervises
activities in the operating room. Anticipates and coordinates any
schedule changes for the room. Assembles equipment and supplies as
needed. Assists anesthesia staff as necessary. Monitors the sterile
field throughout the procedure. Communicates with patients,
families, physicians, OR team members, and other departments.
Participates in educational opportunities for staff development.
Attends in-services, educational meetings, staff meetings, and
