Nurse Practitioner | Surgery - General/Other Location: Toledo, OH Employer: VieMed Healthcare Staffing Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Start Date: ASAP About the Position Join Our Team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner in Cardiothoracic Surgery Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner seeking an impactful opportunity in cardiothoracic surgery? Our esteemed healthcare facility in Toledo, OH, is looking for a highly skilled Locum Nurse Practitioner to provide critical coverages in a dynamic and fast-paced surgical environment. This role offers a unique chance to apply your expertise, support vital patient care, and work alongside a collaborative team dedicated to excellence in cardiac surgery. In this position, you'll deliver expert clinical care in a Level 1 Trauma Center, predominantly managing adult and geriatric patients on inpatient post-operative floors and ICU settings. You'll perform duties such as diagnosing and treating illnesses, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, performing sutures, coordinating pre-op and post-op care, and rounding with supervising physicians who are available 24/7 for consultation. Autonomy in practice is standard, with physicians present during rounds and accessible by phone at all times. Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive inpatient surgical support in cardiothoracic settings Manage an average of 12 patients daily across multiple locations Conduct pre-operative physical exams and post-operative care Remove sutures, diagnose, and treat illnesses Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic test results Write prescriptions and coordinate patient care seamlessly Participate in a call schedule of 10 days per month, with a call ratio of 1:3 Critical Skills & Qualifications: Valid NP license with surgical or cardiothoracic experience preferred Proficient in EMR systems, particularly EPIC Strong clinical decision-making and patient management skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Ability to work autonomously and handle high-pressure situations Additional Preferred Skills: Previous experience in a Trauma Level 1 facility Familiarity with electronic documentation and test interpretation Certification in advanced cardiac or surgical nursing Educational & Experience Requirements: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program Prior experience in surgical, trauma, or cardiothoracic care preferred Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as an NP beneficial Other Requirements: Credentialing process anticipated within 60-90 days Will receive privileges for multiple facilities within the healthcare network Reimbursements for travel, lodging, and licensure when applicable Travel expenses handled for assigned shifts This role offers competitive pay packages, weekly direct deposit payment, comprehensive medical benefits (W-2), and a rewarding referral bonus program.
